Mfamosing plant

The new Mfamosing cement works is the second largest cement plant in Nigeria, and is a fully integrated 2.5mta clinker and cement producing facility. Raw materials required for the production of cement are mined from nearby limestone and marl quarries.

Construction commenced in 2005 and the plant commissioned in early 2009 and inaugurated on 12 May 2009 by the His Excellency, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as represented by Dr Achike Udenwa, the Honorable Minister of Commerce and Industry. Performance testing of the kiln was completed in August 2009 and handed over to UniCem by FLSmidth.

To meet the ongoing energy crisis in Nigeria, the plant has been designed with special emphasis on energy efficiency and the minimization of energy loss. Power is generated on site by three 16mW Wartsila engines capable of operating on either LPFO or gas.
